Collect! System Requirements

Collect! Version 11 runs on virtually every modern Windows computer system, and Collect! components are specifically designed for Linux/Unix, PDAs and WAP/WML systems. Collect! uses the available resources of the computer on which it is running, so performance is enhanced by the entire combination of hardware, operating system, and network environment.

The speed of the server's hard disk, the network, and the workstations, determines performance during network operation. For best performance on standard PC based systems, use a fast machine for the server, with plenty of RAM, a fast hard drive, and a fast network card connected in full duplex to a switch.

For workstations in multi user operation, performance for some functions is affected by the network communication capabilities and processing power of the workstation. Most modern day computers will do well.

The speed with which the server can access the hard disk is of primary importance, and can be enhanced significantly through the use of RAM on the server. The data from the hard disk must then be sent to the workstation through the network. The speed with which the network can send data can be optimized through proper configuration of your network, and through the use of fast (1.0 Gigabit or better) networking.
