Setting up your computer to use a French Canadian keyboard requires two things:
- Setup Windows to use a French Canadian keyboard.
- Setup Collect! to use a unique character set.
When you install Windows, several languages are installed.
To use these languages you must have the proper keyboard installed
on your computer. Then, you simply change the Windows settings
to use this keyboard and the language you choose.
Implementing French Canadian Keyboard Settings
1. From the Windows Desktop, choose Start - Settings - Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the Keyboard icon to display the Keyboard Properties form.
Click on the Language tab.
3. Press Add to display the Add Language form. Click the down arrow and
scroll through the list. The language French (Canadian) should be listed. If so,
choose it and press OK.
4. Now French (Canadian) should be displayed as a choice in the Languages
window. Make sure French (Canadian) is highlighted and press the Set as Default
button. You will notice that next to this, the text has changed to reflect the
new default setting.
Default language: French (Canadian)
5. Click the Apply button. The appropriate files will be copied automatically.
Click the OK button to exit.
Now, if you have the proper keyboard installed, you can use the
French character set.
Setting Up Collect!
The correct settings should be in your Printer Control Codes already.
To ensure that they are, do the following"
1. Sign into Collect! as you would normally.
2. Pull down the Print menu and choose Setup, Printer Control Codes.
3. Scroll through the list of codes and find the small letter 's' in the
Code column.
4. Click on this item to display the Printer Control Code form
for this code.
5. Confirm that the On field for Code 's' contains "(ON
Collect! is now set to use the unique character set.
