Open File

This menu choice will bring up an Open File dialog enabling you to navigate to a file you wish Collect! to open and display. This is a handy tool for opening any ASCII text file without using a third party product.

Collect! can open CSV files, HTML files, XML files, our exported report files, our CBR output files, to name a few.

Basically, any file can be opened from this menu option. If the results displayed in Collect!'s Text Editor are illegible, then you are not looking at an ASCII text file. You should close the file without saving changes. If the file looks like ordinary text, then, generally, it is safe to view the file.

Once a file is displayed, you can make alterations and save it as you would in any normal text editor.

Trying to open files from here bypasses the operating system's file associations to open the file in the associated program, so be careful. You may accidentally display a file in Hex or Binary coding. This is not where you want to be. Just exit out without saving the file.
