How To Use The Index For Help
The Index is a master index of all subjects in the
Collect! knowledge base. Collect! does a search
when it builds the help pages and compiles everything
it finds and builds pages for. You can pick a letter of
the alphabet to see entries for each topic.
Pull down the Help menu and choose Index to
get to the Index or select the Index button at the top of
a help page.
If you are viewing a page that you found
through the Index, press the BACK button in your
browser to return to the Index page.
You can page down the list or look at the left side
of the screen for a quick list of all the topics on the
page. Click on an entry and it will take you to the
help page or topic.
It is helpful to know some details about the way
Collect! displays the topics it found.
Entries in the Master Index contain two or three parts.
First - the topic
Second - a further defining of the topic
Third - a document containing a reference to the topic
For Example:
Report
This discourse is a simple reference to the topic, Report.
Select it to go to a document called "Report"
Reports Design Formatting Dates
This is a reference to a topic, Reports Design, and a "subtopic",
Formatting Dates.
When you select this, you will go to a document about
Formatting Dates. The reference, Reports Design, is to help
direct you to pages that have information about designing reports.
Reports Design Variables - How To Use Variables
This is a reference to a topic, Report Design, a subtopic, Variables
and the document that this topic is contained in, How To Use Variables.
When you choose this, you will open a page called "How To Use
Variables" and the section on Variables will be brought to your
attention.
Use these ways that Collect! "refines" its results
to help you decide which subject looks most like what you
need to find help on. Use every part of the given line to
give you clues. Since some topics are very complex and
you are in a sense, "mining the knowledge base" for
answers. Happy Gold Digging!
